12 Stragglers took part in an event that hadn't taken place for 2 years, as the reigning champion hadn't been bothered to organise it so that he could keep the trophy longer!
The round robin league saw 2 teams emerge tied on 8 points;
Ron Wilkinson & Dave Bird and Nick Mussell & John Batchelor who contested a 3 game final.
The pulsating 'professional quality' final saw Ron Wilkinson and Dave Bird triumph.

With our two time champion 'Chester' Barnes away it left the field wide open for new victors to emerge.
Jim Pearson and 'his NEW Chinese Friend' Charlie 'Chan' Tucker triumphed in a close fought competition.
Great skill was demostrated by most teams with the notable exception of Gordie & Nick, which was followed back at the United Services Club by the devouring of Chilli, Sausages and Chips.

The quality and skill of our reining champion Steve 'Chester' Barnes ensured that even with a new partner in Mike 'his NEW Chinese Friend' Coward proved no problem in retaining the trophy.
Although some say wearing the same 'lucky' stripy polo shirt 2 years running was the key to success.
Surprisingly, some real skill manged to emerge in this highly competitive event, which was followed back at the United Services Club by some much welcomed Pie & Mash and even Snooker for the hard core stop outs.
